Amber Fort

Amber Fort DesignBuilt by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century Amber Fort (also known and pronounced as Amer fort) is located in Amer, a small town 11km from Jaipur, Rajasthan. It is a fascinating merge of Mughal and Hindi architecture, built in marble and red sandstone.

The Amber fort was occupied by the Rajput’s from the 16th century till 1927, when Jaipur was created. They used it both for residential as well as defense purposes. It is a symbol of the valiant lifestyles of Rajput’s. Situated at the forefront of the palace is the Maotha lake.

Situated at the forefront of the palace is the Maotha lake. The reflection of this sprawling palace on the water of the lake is mesmerizing.

Tourists are often deceived by the outer appearance of the fort as it is rocky and rough. However, this is completely different from its interiors which are filled with lush gardens, intricate decoration and exquisite paintings. The majestic halls with the minute mirror work and carvings on the walls and ceilings leave the visitors captivated.

The fort is divided into four subparts. Diwan-I-Aam, also known as the Hall of Public Audiences, is a marquee with double row of columns. At the entrance of the palace is Kali temple or Sila Devi temple which is famous for its heroic past, silver doors and huge silver lions. The Ganesh Pol, another aspect of the fort, leads us to the apartments of the King. Amber fort also has Jai Mandir, a renowned temple which has Sheesh Mahal. This is a magnificent hall of mirrors designed in such an artistic way that even a tiny ray of lights gets reflected.

In addition to all the above, many visitors come here to enjoy the joyful elephant ride. A ramp is designed to take you to the hilltop palace on beautifully decorated elephants so that you can truly take in the flawless beauty of this royal Fort.

I HAVE SEEN THIS FORT WITH MY FAMILY . IT REALLY WORTH TO BE SEEN ONCE.
I SHALL MENTION HERE THAT , IN SUCH A MARVELLOUS SCULPTURE , SOME PARTS OF FORT ARE NOT BEING GIVEN DUE CARE FOR IT’S MAINTENANCE. THERE ARE SOME UNDER GROUND (may call to be SECRET some times) ARE HAVING LOT OF “MAKDI JALA” & ” CHAMGADARH” HAVE MADE THEIR PERMANENT PLACE . IN SUCH CASE , WE MAY IMAGINE ; HOW MUCH CARE FOR MAINTENANCE FOR SUCH “MONUMENTS”(impossible to be built now) MUST HAVE BEING GIVEN. WHO SO EVER HAS TAKEN PHOTOS OF SUCH BEAUTIFUL FORT ; MUST ALSO SHOW SUCH PART ; TO DRAW “ATTENTION” OF STATE & CENTRAL GOVERNMENTS FOR NEED FUL CARE.

Historical monuments are our natinaol heritage. But we need to put lights on the fact that .Rajputs did nothing to save our nation from foreign invaders. They are rajputs for name sake. When Akhand Bharat was facing challenges from Mughols, british, they surrendered them. They are actually a black spot on the warrior clans of India With very few exception like Maharana Pratap & few others , they literally did nothing , they never put up a fight with mughols, insted they gave their daughters to the mughols. They were busy enjouying lavish lifestyle.
Remember, it was a Rajput who befriended Shivaji Maharaj & convinced Maharaj to visit Delhi. Those were rajputs who fought against Shivaji Maharaj in support of Mughols.

The sub-continent has many such beautiful places (which I have visited in India and Pakistan) and I noticed the same lack of maintenance. Mr. Sharma and Mr. Mehta, I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you and expect the Indian or Pakistani Governments to maintain them, leave alone try to get them to their former glory. Nuclear and Space projects appear to be the priorities in that part of the world.

  • Thahira

very beautiful places.i love to visit that places.sure i will try that.thanks…………

we are taught history in school so that we admire the work of ancestors, learn the basics of life requirement but due to fierce lifestyle due to rushing into city life for making money, fame…we forget the beuty of past and so also our govt employees who are given budget to use the money allocated…since ,auditing is very weak, now ,today’s generation can find, fight of such in appropriation in handling the people fund…one has to come to street like Anna Hazare..we all hav to become ANNA
